Nursing home and elder abuse is an important concern in the United States. Currently, there are more than 36 million people over the age of 65 in the U.S. Obviously, many older adults will require a form of nursing home or assisted living care at some point. While most nursing home facilities provide loving care and a safe environment to senior citizens, many unfortunately do not. Many times, elderly adults will find themselves subjected to various forms of abuse from poor medical treatment to neglect to abuse by an uncaring or untrained staff. Since many adults being abused in nursing homes are unable to communicate that to family or friends, nursing home abuse is often under-reported.
